Meet Nari, she lives on a lovely farm with hens, bees and apple trees. She has a little lamb which she cares for, and while the seasons turn, Nari’s lamb grows into a fine sheep with fleece ready to shear. In this book you will learn the traditional ways that Nari and her family uses to transform the fleece into a scarf. They shear, spin, dye and knit. Nari grows older and with wear her scarf becomes tattered and it can then be recycled into compost for the farm.
This beautiful book encourages young children to engage with the wool cycle, and they will achieve an understanding of the basic crafts of natural spinning, dyeing, knitting and gardening. Beautifully illustrated, this book will inspire children and adults to explore the idea of sustainable living and knowing where our clothes come from.
